Trumpism Is a Coping Mechanism We All Use
MAGA Adherents Would Prefer to Live in a Pleasing, Deranged Fantasy Rather Than the Uncomfortable Reality That White People are Losing Power
As French philosopher Yves Simon explains, "I do not know, I cannot imagine, any group which does not include among its current ideas an enormous dose of lies. That being the case, the alternative is inevitable: either one must like falsehood, or one must dislike the familiar setting of daily life."
The world is diversifying and white people are shrinking in number. People of color are gaining political power and LGBTQ people are challenging accepted notions of gender binarism.
These changes have created fear in power structures grounded in white supremacy which have responded with laws requiring forced births and the demonization of transexuals and Drag Queens.
Aside from retrograde laws, this fear has created a worldview that prefers falsehoods to the familiar setting of daily life.
