I have devoted countless hours of my life listening to and analyzing the music of Johann Sebastian Bach. I have attended Bach music festivals on two continents and I have read much of the prodigious literature about his work.
I abandoned a (admittedly unlikely) career as a jazz guitarist to study classical guitar. This decision was made, primarily, because I determined that the only way to understand and experience Bach’s genius was to perform his music. Although I lacked the talent to become a professional musician, my Bach quest never really ended.
The Song of the Day is the Prelude to a famous cello suite. My own transcription for guitar was once part of my repertoire. Here it is, transcribed for violin.
