The BPO Begins 2023-2024 in Mid-Season Form
Wednesday's Concert Found The Orchestra in High Spirits
Buffalo was just recognized as America’s nicest city and the Bills look to contend for the Super Bowl. I am happy to report that our orchestra, like our city, is in mid-season form.
Much has happened since June 2023 when the BPO closed its 2022-2023 Season with a dramatic, intense performance of Verdi’s Requiem. Click here for my review.
Since June iconic Kleinhans Music Hall saw $21 million spent in repair and restoration, including a new roof, a new boiler, and a new heating and cooling system. Happily, the BPO is musically, financially, and physically, in good shape.
We should not take this for granted; it demonstrates a high level of professionalism and competence by the BPO administration and Board in a world that has absorbed late capitalism’s contempt for the fine arts.
