I was recently wandering a dying mall. My presence on the autism spectrum prevents me from filtering out background sounds, so the ambient music stream most people (I am told) ignore is processed, unbidden, in my head.
Happily, Spotify’s sketchy algorithms dispensed a treat that I hadn’t heard: Taylor Swift’s break-up song “I Bet You Think About Me,” (2021) a country-pop gem co-written with Lori McKenna. It features Swift’s signature sound drops at the chorus and a rich instrumental arrangement that transforms a basic C Major harmony into a lush soundscape.
