From the Archives: On The Constitutionality of Obamacare

Below is a reprint from an article I published in the NY Daily Record June 8, 2011, the same day I participated in a public debate on the Constitutionality of Obamacare.
I think it is still relevant because the House Republicans have now voted 40 times to repeal it on the grounds that it is a dramatic governmental overreach and its key provision, the "individual mandate," socialism.
In fact the "individual mandate" was a policy initiative which came from the conservative Heritage Foundation in 1989 and was a part of a bill sponsored by Republican Senators Orrin Hatch and Kit Bond. It was only after Obama embraced it that they decided it was evil incarnate.
