FOX Had to Fire Tucker Carlson
To Do Otherwise Would Have Made a Bad Legal Position Even Worse
CNN calls FOX’s firing of Tucker Carlson “stunning” but it really had no choice after it settled Dominion’s defamation lawsuit.
To understand why, one must remember that the Dominion case is but one of the many defamation claims FOX is currently defending. Smartmatic, the manufacturer of the ballot machinery FOX News claimed was “rigged” is suing for 2.7 billion, and that case has not been settled.
Summary Judgment Explained
The facts in the Dominion and Smartmatic cases are essentially the same, and the judge in the Dominion case found that some of the legal issues in the case were not in dispute and made certain “summary” (judge deciding rather than the jury) determinations of fact and law.
