Appalachian String Band Releases Protest Song Calling for Gun Control
Old Crow Medicine Show Just Dropped "Stronger Than Guns," an Elegy to the Victims of the Covenant Shooting in Nashville
In 1998 Old Crown Medicine Show came out of Boone, North Carolina in deep Appalachia. They were busking on Main Street there when Bluegrass legend Doc Watson discovered them. In the last 25 years OCMS has created some of the best string-band bluegrass in generations and played a role in the “roots” revival.
Today OCMS released the single Louder Than Guns inspired by the Covenant shooting. Although the song mourns those lost in Nashville, they acknowledge it is just another “Groundhog Day,” another American city burying its children.
